 William Matlack was born August 31 1725 NJ. William married Mary Turner. William died May 15

1795 Mary died November 28 1795 NJ.

1795 March 27 William Matlack of Chester Twsp Burlington Co; Will of. Son George, houses and

land in Chester Twsp; he paying the other bequests. Son Samuel, 65lb. Son Joseph, 15lb. Sons

William Rueben and John, each 5lb. Daughter Rebecca (Now wife of Amos Buzby) 5lb; also 25lb

from personal estate. The 6 sons to share in cedar swamp. Residue to be equally divided

between sons, William, John, Rueben, Samuel and Joseph. Executors-- Sons Samuel and George.

Witnesses--Job Cowperthwaite, John Roberts Jr. and Joseph Stokes. Proved May 27 1795. Lib 35,

The family record found in the Bible of William and Mary (Turner) Matlack is written in

various parts of the volume with the main record on loose sheets evidently bound in the

volume originally. This Bible in 1912 is in the possession of Lydia M Evans a great grand

daughter of William and Mary residing in Moorestown, NJ. (Vineland Historical Magazine

Vols 34-36 Call # 974.994)

       Town he having the Town book upon the counter; offered to loan the same, to  me which I

       accepted of: brought it home with me & copied out therefrom all that I thought would ever

       interest me into a book (which my Reader may refer to for more) the first said book being

       very ancient; & all to pieces: a new one being also now procured, I judge this old one

       will now soon be entirely Lost-------this sheet being the first one of the Said book

       entirely loose: & now deemed of no value by any Inhabitant of Said Township (but by myself)

       and the names, letters, & marks of all the inhabitants (or I presume nearly so) of Sd

       Township of Chester make by their own hands upon this sheet ------ I hope to preserve the
