     VANDALIA -- Virginia E. Matlock, 94, of 16476 Hodgson St., Vandalia, died at

     11:04 a.m. Friday (March 5, 2004) after an extended illness. She was born

     Aug. 2, 1909, in Louisiana to William W. and Margaret P. (King) Jordan. They

     both preceded her in death. On Aug. 18, 1926, she married Lester P. Matlock

     in Chick, Tenn. He preceded her in death on Oct. 31, 1980. Survivors include

     five sons, Lester N. Matlock of Mishawaka, Roy A. Matlock of Stuttgart, Ark.,

     Henry A. Matlock of Mishawaka, Victor W. Matlock of Malvern, Ark., and Charles

     R. Matlock of Tucson, Ariz.; four daughters, Nellie Mowrer of Elkhart, Geneva

     Goodger of Vandalia, Margaret Taglavore of Irving, Texas, and Louise Potter of

     Alamogordo, N.M. Thirty grandchildren and 43 great grandchildren survive, as

     well as 18 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one grandchild.

     Visitation will be from 2 to 3 p.m. today at the Connelly Funeral Home in

     Cassopolis. Services are at 3 p.m. today with Pastor John Riggs of First Seventh

     Day Adventist Church, South Bend, officiating. Burial will be in Hebron Cemetery

     in Carlisle, Ark. Mrs. Matlock was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church

     in Malvern, Ark., and had attended the First Seventh Day Adventist Church in South

     Bend. She was a retired lab technician for Dr. Lushbaugh in North Liberty. She

     came from Arkansas to Osceola in 1959 then to North Liberty in 1969 and back to

     Arkansas in 1998. Finally, she moved back to this area in 2000. (The Elkhart Truth)

       died Dec 19 2005 Elkhart IN.

 

       ELKHART -- Nellie V. Mowrer, 78, of 1001 W. Hively Ave., died at 8:10 p.m. Monday

       (Dec. 19, 2005) at Rosewood Terrace. She was born June 12, 1927, in Hickman Bend,

       Ark., to Lester P. and Virginia (Jordan) Matlock. She married Calvin D. Mowrer

       in 1945 in Carlisle, Ark. He died July 4, 1996. She is survived by a son, Calvin D.

       Mowrer Jr., of Richardson, Texas; a daughter, Joann McCune of Elkhart; four

       grandchildren, Kathy Jo McCune-Allen of Indianapolis, Jamie Coullard of Mishawaka,

       and Corey Mowrer and Racheal Mowrer, both of Elkhart; two great-grandchildren;

       five brothers, Roy (Marcile) Matlock of Little Rock, Ark., Wayne (Vivian) Matlock

       of Malvern, Ark., Alfred (Carol) Matlock of Osceola, Charles (Lisa) Matlock of

       Tucson, Ariz., and Matlock P. (Mary) Matlock II of Mishawaka; three sisters,

       Geneva Goodger of Vandalia, Mich., Margaret (Alfonso) Taglavorie of Fort Worth,

       Texas, and Louise (Jake) Potter of Alamogordo, N.M.; and a daughter-in-law, Karen

       M. Mowrer of Elkhart. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Linda J. Mowrer,

       and one son, John R. Mowrer. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Osceola

       Chapel of Zimmerman-Inman Funeral Home, 1109 Lincolnway West, Osceola, where the

       funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Philip Jenkins, former

       pastor of Bethany Chapel in Elkhart, will officiate. Burial will be in Osceola

       Cemetery. Mrs. Mowrer was a homemaker who moved from Arkansas to Osceola in 1952.

       She was a member of the Bethany Chapel in Elkhart. Memorial may be given to Bethany
