       Charles Matlock, 64 Garvin, died 4:10 pm Sunday Jan 2 1972 at his home

       in Garvin. Born July 7, 1907 in Stigler, Okla. He had been a resident

       of Garvin for 50 years. He was operator of a garage and body shop, a

       veteran of WW2 and a member of the Baptist church. Suvivors include his

       wife Alta of the home; one son Herbert L. Matlock of Okla City.; four

       daughters; Ernestine Warhurst of Malin, Oregon, Charlene Bull of Dallas,

       Tx.; Vonda Allen and Wanda Sue Gilliland both of Dallas, TX.; four

       brothers Claude and Clyde of Garvin and Troy and Arlen of Kilgore, Tx.;

       two sisters, Ethel Johnston and Mamie McLain of Garvin.; 15 grandchildren

       and six great grand children. Funeral services were  held at 10:30 today

       (Tuesday Jan 4, 1972) in the Garvin Baptist Church Burial was in the

       Garvin cemetery under the direction of Norwood-Welch Funeral Home.

      1965 Feb Mrs Epsy Matlock dies Thursday"

      Mrs. Epsy Matlock, 83, died at 7:15 am at the home of a daughter, Mrs Jake Johnston, Garvin.  Born

      Jan 20, 1882 in Aniston, Alabama, she had resided in this county since 1928, moving from Avery, Texas. 

      She was a member of the Methodist Church. She is survived by five sons; Claude and Clyde both of Garvin;

      Charles Matlock of Ft. Worth, Texas; Troy Matlock of Jeffersonville, Ind.; and Arlen Matlock of Kilgore,

      Texas.; two daughters, Mrs Jake Johnston (Ethel) and Mrs H.H. McLain (Mayme) both of Garvin; two brothers,

      Richard Baird, of Okla City; and Ruther Baird of Alvin, Tx.; one sister, Mrs Thad McCluskey, Lubbock, Tx.;

      20 grand children and 21 great grand children and one great-great grand child. Funeral services were set

      for 1:00pm Saturday at the Garvin Baptist Church with Rev. Glen Patterson officiating.  Arrangements and

      burial will be in the Garvin cemetery under the direction of Norwood - Welch Funeral Home. Bearers are

      Terry, Floyd, John, Bill and Herb Matlock and Maurice Bull.

        Barabar Nell Blanton of Sarasota, Fla., LoraEtta Blackerby of

        Idabel Okla., and Doris Ann Livergood of Idabel Okla. She also

        had two brothers; Noah Montgomery of National City, California

        and Elum Montgomery of National City, California. She had one

       Melda, sons and daughter-in-laws; Floyd and Billie Lou Matlock of Valliant,

       of Valliant, Okla.; and Charles and Sharen Matlock of Garvin. Daughters

       Arlin M Matlock, 1924, White, born Texas, living in McCurtain Co OK,

       enlisted on July 28 1944 from Oklahoma City. Private, No branch

       assignment. Education consisted of Grammar School, Arlin was married.

       Arlin Matlock.. Service for Arlin Matlock, 80, of Kilgore will be at 4

       p.m. Saturday, April 9, 2005 at Rader Funeral Home Chapel in Kilgore

       with Rev. Earl W. ?Buddy? Duggins officiating. Burial will follow in

       Danville Cemetery. Mr. Matlock died Wednesday, April 6, 2005 at his

       residence in Kilgore. He was born July 25, 1924 in Avery to Bill and

       Epsy Matlock. He was a US. Army veteran and served during WWII in

       Germany. He was a retired pipe fitter, a member of the Disabled American

       Veterans, a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a member of

       Forest Home Baptist Church and attended the Sanctuary Sunday School Class.

       Survivors include his wife, Jewel Matlock, Kilgore; two daughters, Marilyn

       Shockey, Dallas, Arlinda Jane and Jim Barton, The Colony; son, Johnny

       Matlock, Flower Mound; brother, Troy Matlock, Gilmer; four grandchildren;

       three great-grandchildren and other family and friends. The family will

       receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 6:30 until 7 p.m.

          Marshall M. Matlock, Sr. Council: 

          Marshall M. Matlock Sr. 85, Council , died May 26, 1992 at a Council Hospital.

          Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, May 29, 1992 at the church

          of the Nazarene, Council, burial will follow at the IOOF cemetery, Council. 

          Arrangements are under the direction of Thomason Funeral home, Weiser, Id. He

          was born April 13, 1907 at Pilot Point, Texas the son of John and Ella Johnson

          Matlock. He moved to Louisiana as a young boy with his family. Mr. Matlock

          married Martha Owens March 15, 1928 at Tulsa, Oklahoma. He  became a minister

          in the Church of the Nazarene denomination in 1930 where he served in many

          different locations throughout the United States. The couple moved back to

          Council in 1970 and he retired in 1990. Survivors include his wife Martha Matlock

          of Council: four sons, Tom of Emmett, Id: Larry of Newington, DN, Gary of Nampa,

          Id: Michael of Boise, Id: a sister Pauline Dickerson of St. Louis, Mo: and a brother

          Alvie of Atlanta, GA:  11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. He was preceded

          in death by 2 sons, Marshall Jr and John.

 

          Martha L. Matlock

          Martha L. Matlock 87 of Nampa, died Friday, Sept 1, 1999 at a Nampa hospital. Funeral

          services were conducted at 10 A.M, Monday Sept 4, at the Alsip Funeral Chapel, Nampa,

          Id. Pastor Robert Manley officiated.  Burial was at P.M. at the IOOF Cemetery in

          Council.  Martha L. Matlock was born May , 9 at Pittsburg, Kan. the daughter of John

          and Anne Owens. She married Marshall Matlock on March 15 1928 at Tulsa, Okla. Following

          their marriage they spent a year working for the Salvation Army. Following that first

          year, Marshall became a minister in the Church of the Nazarene and Martha worked

          alongside him as a ministers wife for years.  Their ministry was a very rewarding to

          them raising their six sons and working with the many churches that they pastored across

          the United States. Martha developed a reputation of being very straight forward, honest,

          loving and very funny. Marshall and Martha pastored in several congregations in Idaho

          including Buhl, Caldwell, Sandpoint and Council. In 1990 they retired and made their

          home in Council. Marshall preceded her in death and in 1999 she moved to Nampa.

          Martha was a member of the Church of the Nazarene. Martha is survived by three sons,

          Larry and his wife Anita Matlock of Portland, Ore. Garry and his wife Pamela Matlock

          of Billings, Montana and Mike Matlock of Boise ; three sisters, Jo of Lake Isabella,

          Calif, Edna of Salem, Oregon, and Wilma of Dalhart, Texas. 12 grandchildren and 16 great

          grandchildren.  She was also preceded in death by three sons, Marshall Jr., John and Tom.

 

          Marshall Marian Matlock Jr. 61 of Portland, Ore, a former Weiser resident died Tuesday,

          April 9, 1991, in Eugene, Ore. Funeral services were held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, April 12,

          1991 at Thomason Funeral Chapel Weiser. Burial followed at the IOOF Cemetery in Council,

          Idaho. He was born January 31, 1930 at Sapulpa, Oklahoma, the son of Marshall M and

          Martha Lavon Owens Matlock.  His father was a pastor at numerous churches during his

          childhood years and he graduated from high school at Flagstaff, Arizona.  He was in the

          furniture business as a salesman and was a manager for 14 years in California. He later

          worked in construction as a general contractor until the time of his death. He was

          involved in inter city mission work and had been a member of the mission board in Salem,

          Ore. Marshall was a lover of music as a participant and a listener. He was an

          accomplished musician as a singer and instrumentalist. He married Janie in 1958 at

          Englewood, Calif. Survivors include his parents Marshall and Martha Matlock Sr. of

          Council; four brothers, Tom Matlock of Emmett, Larry Matlock of Newington, Con, Garry

          Matlock of Nampa, Id, and Mike Matlock of Plano, Texas. Several nieces and nephews.
